RENOVATION |
BUILDING FUND UPDATE As of August 29, the Building Fund for Phase 2 was at $71,428.09, leaving us needing only $28,571.91 more to reach our $100,000 goal this year! There are blue envelopes marked Building Fund for your contributions. Checks should be made out to UBC, with Building Fund on the comment line.
SPECIFIC HELP NEEDED FOR RENOVATION
Here is the help we need right now:
Expeditors - no pick-up truck needed, just ability to run to the store with a PO and pick up a small order and bring it back to UBC. The PO will be charged, so no money needs to be exchanged. The need for these runs is frequent and usually during the day, so call Richard and let him know the times of the day you can be called on if needed. Organizer - this can be a family project. Now and then, the workmen need someone to come along behind them and organize the work area, lay out the tools so they can find them, and just generally clean up the work area.
Shelver: We need donations of shelving units to put in the Conex for parts storage. Failing that, we can buy shelving units, but need someone to assembly them so they can be fastened to the walls inside the Conex. Richard plans to get some lights put inside the Conex.
Please let Richard know (388-6802) or call the office if you can help in any of these ways. |

PARENTLIST |
Information affecting children and preschoolers is sent out in ParentList. If your email is not on THAT list, you may want to contact the office and get added, so you do not miss any events for your children. There is also a list (IList) for those who want to save the church postage by receiving their monthly UBC Informer as a PDF attachment to an email. And finally, if your child is now in Junior High, you may want to be added to the "YouthList."
Any time you would like to volunteer a snack for an event, simply bring a favorite item when you drop off your child or check in with Marnie and she can guide you as to the what and when. Your goodies are welcome! (If there are ever leftovers, she typically rolls them into the next program.) |

FELLOWSHIP MEALS |
Terri has taken on the task of doing the first Wednesday Fellowship Meal (Sept. 8), as well as coordinating the rest. She is forming teams of 3 to take care of the meals. The idea is that each one on the team would be responsible for only one part of the meal (like main dish, side & salad, or dessert). Or they could divide up responsibilities however they wanted. Hopefully, we will have enough teams that each team would only need to do it once or twice a quarter. The teams would also do set up and clean up, or rope family members in to help!
So be thinking of a team you could form, and tell Terri when you see her. Or you can call her at 479-0843 or email her at terrib@alaska.net |

------------------------------ LATEST NEWS
Sept. 2, 2010 ------------------------------ |
Office closed Monday, 9/6, for Labor Day. Read the rest of UBCNews carefully, as there are a lot of new items this week!
CAN YOU HELP FILL THESE NEEDS?
HOUSING
Ed note: This was sent out Monday, but we now have some more information about the need, so please read it again:
A friend of mine is needing to rent a place to live. She has two kids (ages 9 and 11) and two small dogs. They are currently living with friends and need to find a place of their own. She says, "We would like a two bedroom if possible. We prefer Fairbanks, but will look at North Pole. If utilities are included, we could pay up to $1400, if not, we'd prefer around $1000." Does anyone know of any rental property that is available? Please contact me and I will give her the information.
Thanks, Debbie Palmer (call office for contact info)
CAR STILL NEEDED FOR JANIE Our college student missionary is in need of reliable transportation. Janie Guerra would like the loan of a car for the school year, beginning in mid September. Please call the office or speak with Janie directly if you can help fill this need.
REQUEST FROM MIKE PURPLE
I recently became aware of a need for a grad student who has come to UBC. Colby needs to borrow some furniture for the dry cabin he is renting for the school year.
He needs: desk, desk chair, bed & frame, couch, coffee table, bar stools, small dresser. Any or everything that could be loaned would be appreciated. I will coordinate getting items to him.
Mike Purple, BCM UAF. 474-4989 (TVBA)
IMPORTANT!
Also please note the new specific requests the renovation committee has, in separate article.

| MOPS? |
UBC MOPS HAS A NEW NAME AND A NEW GAME!
There is no longer a MOPS group being sponsored by University Baptist. What we have now is even better! It's called UBC Women's LIFE (Living In Faith Everyday) Group and we are not exclusive to just mothers of pre-schoolers anymore. Our group is now extending an invitation to mommies AND young wives! While MOPS is no longer our name, our group will continue to be an outreach ministry to our community, offering wonderful meetings, crafts, and a fabulous time of chatting, eating and down-time to our mommies and young wives. Plus, it's all free! Our meetings will take place every 2nd and 4th Saturdays of each month. Our first meeting is on Saturday, September 11 at 10:30 am at UBC. Childcare will be provided for free. Questions? Please contact Holly Blood |
